  1. HD is transmitted with digital transmissions.

SD can be broadcasted with either analog or digital transmissions.

  2. No...

HD signal must be digital ... true.

the SD signal is analog ... not always true.

Some stations transmit more than one channel digitally. In my area I have several stations that do that.  They transmit an HD signal on one channel - eg   2-1 and then transmit an SD channel - eg 2-2.  Both are digitally transmitted but only one is HD the other is SD - 480i.

  3. HD is High Definition; it is digital.  It has a wide screen and higher resolution.

SD is Standard Definition; it is also digital.  SD usually refers to old style analog video that has been converted to digital.  Simply because HD and SD are transmitted together, it doesn't change either.

Analog is analog, it can be nothing else.

    I hope this helps

  4. Yea thats correct, but standard can be broadcast over both.
