  1. no you usually have a younger person like a 6-10 year old carry a ring pillow and they dont have to have the rings on it, the best man can hold them that way you dont risk the child losing them or him flipping the pillow and it flying off, but usually you do have a boy who looks like the groom dressed wise, and then your flowergirl should look like you. its a mini bride and groom!

  2. No, usually the ring bearer is a male child...but I have been to weddings where the best man IS the one to carry the rings, so it really is all about preference

  3. the title of "ring bearer" is usually given to a male child that you would like to have in the wedding but isn't old enough to be a groomsmen.  However, the ringbearer doesn't usually carry the rings anymore.  Too many children losing them or putting them up their noses or whatever.  So, yes, most of the time the best man holds the brides ring and gives it to the groom (just like the MOH usually holds the grooms ring).

    Good luck and congratulations.

  4. The ring bearer is usually a little boy that walks down the aisle with the flower girl.  The best man asks the ring bearer for the rings when the appropriate time comes.  You don't HAVE to have a ring bearer.  His brother could just have the rings the whole time.  But, there are really no wedding "rules", it's your wedding- do what YOU want.

  5. It's your wedding, do whatever you want. It sounds perfectly acceptable to me.

Often the Best Man will have the ring and the Ring bearer will carry copies, but as I said, it is YOUR wedding and you do whatever you want!

    Good luck!

  6. Not the same.  Usualy you have a little boy as the ring bearer (relative, child of friend, etc...).  Some let the ring bearer carry a fake ring and give the real ring to the best man to hand over during the exchanging so that the little boy doesn't lose it.  Just depends on how little and responsible the little boy is.

  7. The Best Man and Ring Bearer are two different things. A Ring Bearer is usually a very young boy, who carries the rings on a pillow. Normally, they're not the real rings, just a symbol.

The best man carries the Bride's ring; then at the right moment in the ceremony passes it to the Priest, Minister, or whatever who in turn blesses the ring, then hands it to the groom. The Best Man also helps the groom with other things. He'll also propose a toast at the reception, & helps the groom change into his going away clothes; that is, if you're following tradition. The Best Man is also a person who will sign the marriage license as a witness. The Maid/Matron of Honour will also sign as a witness.

  8. Hi and congratulations on your upcoming wedding!

The ring bearer is usually a young male child (anywhere from the age of 4 to about 8 or 9), who walks up the aisle with a little pillow with the rings on it.  Now...this position is totally optional, meaning you do NOT have to have a ring bearer if you don't want one.

Years ago when I was married, no one had a ring bearer.  The best man simply carried the rings in his pocket.

So...if you have a ring bearer, then the minister/judge (whomever is marrying you), will take the rings off the pillow and continue with the service.  If you do not have a ring bearer, the minister/judge will ask for the rings from the best man.

All of these things will be gone over and practiced at your rehearsal.

  9. My wedding and most weddings I've been in, the maid of honor has the grooms ring on her thumb and the best man has the bride's ring on on his pinky so they can both hand them to the minister at the appropriate time.

Small children are not usually to be trusted with expensive jewelry.  I think most people just put fake rings on there if any at all if they use a ring bearer.  We didn't want kids in our wedding, too unpredictable so we skipped the ring bearer and flower girl.

  10. Nope, the ring bearer is usually a rather young boy (male version of a flower girl) and carries the rings on a pillow.

What might be confusing you is a lot of times either the couple decides they don't want the ring bearer to actually carry the rings (loss issues) or there isn't one so the best man will just keep the rings in his pocket. A lot of times the best man will also just take the rings from the ring bearer when he reaches the altar.

  11. Yes the best man usually has the real rings and hands them to the groom.  The ring bearer is normally a young boy that carries a pillow with fake rings on it so he doesn't loose the real rings.  The best man also gives a speech at the reception before everyone eats.

  12. They can be, or you could have a separate ring bearer.

Typically for couples whop don't want children in their wedding (or simply don't have any other options), the best man and the MOH hold the rings for each person (the BM gets the bride's, and the MOH gets the groom's). Or the BM can hold both.

If you have a ring bearer, it's usually a kid, and he'll hold the rings on a pillow or something.

Personally, I prefer it when the BM amd MOH do it (that's what we're doing). But it's up to you.

  13. no the ring bearer is usually a young boy who carries the ring down the isle.  You don't need one though. most of the time the ring bearer doesn't even carry the real rings anymore.  Usually the best mand and MOH do that now and the ring bearer is just a cute boy carrying a pillow.  mine is actually going to be our puppy. He is like a child to us. we're getting a little tux and everything for him.  The flower girl will walk him down the isle.

The best man's job is to stand up there and (if you chose so) give the ring to the groom, he is also the one who signs the wedding certificate as a witness. (same with your MOH)

  14. No they are two seperate people.  The ring bearer is a little boy usually no older than 8.  And he walks down the aisle with the rings on a pillow.  But if you are like me and don't trust a little boy with your rings, then you usually let the best man and maid of honor hold the rings and the ring bearer holds a pillow with fake rings on it.

Or you dont need a ring bearer at all.

Its all up to you.  It's your day :)

    Congratulations!

  15. if you have a young boy carry the rings down the aisle on a pillow, that is called the ring bearer.  if you do not, the best man is in charge of keeping the rings in his pocket until the exchange part of the ceremony.

  16. no ring bearer is normaly a child 5 or 6 is a good age. Over 8 is to old and if  hes 3 or under definatly wait till last minute to give him the ring becuz i hav seen way to many weddding rings lost

  17. No, you know they are not the same. The ring bearer does just that bears the ring,.........duh

  18. Have the ringbearer walk it down the isle( A little boy) and than have the boy give it to the best man to give to your husband.
