I know it's an old trailer and I'm trying to get a tag for it but DMV keeps telling me that there is a number on the neck. It's made buy the Fulton Co Milwakee. but only 3 numbers it shows, is it possible that it's so old it only has 3 # it also has

O-BETH-CO-WELD USA. on the neck of it.

  1. riding has the right idea but you may not know what he said, by being short with an answer, but just visit your DMV and if you have a title or bill of sale for that trailer and they can issue you a homemade serial # plate which you have to rivit onto the trailer and have all the trailer 7 marker lights etc in working order and you call the local sheriff dept and they come and inspect the trailer, sign the DMV paper and then you get the serial # plate along with your trailer tag..

  2. Try taking it to a law enforcement agency and have them look at it, if any knows where to look it would be them. Have them make out a report to take to DMV, that should satisfy any questions.

  3. Sort of a catch 22 .

The "homebuilt" route is a possibility.

Being "old"  a 3  digit sn.should not be a problem unless it is just a model #.

If it has no plates , check w/ your local DMV & see if it is possible to get temporary tags in order to transport it  to have it weighed & inspected.

If it has never been registered in your name , proof of ownership is required.

Surge brakes, safety chains, brake lights are the usual items.

Also check w/ an auto wrecker or used boat dealer, they may be able to help w/ a title , for a fee (think its legal) .

Fairly common predicament & they may be able to direct you

    Best regards,.

  4. why not just say it's homemade
