Older garmin model 55 internal battery...

Question

Hi, I have a 10 year old Gramin model 55 aircraft GPS and the internal battery beep started coming on. I took it apart and took the battery out and after i had a new one fabricated i replaced it. Now the unit comes on but the screed will not respond and nothing works. Is there a way for me to get it working.
