Olympic Field Hockey Sticks???

Question

I was just watching olympic field hockey, and I noticed that the sticks the players use are really short, and they have to bend over to hit the ball. Why do they use really short sticks, and not regular size sticks? Also... why are the end of the sticks curved??

They always have been short, and always curved like that. I think you are thinking of ice hockey sticks.
