    I wouldn't be surprised after watching that video.

  2. I'm not sure about the 18 hamburgers, but I know that he eats more than 12,000 calories a day because he burns so many carbs.

    "...three fried-egg sandwiches loaded with cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, fried onions and mayonnaise.

    He follows that up with two cups of coffee, a five-egg omelet, a bowl of grits, three slices of French toast topped with powdered sugar and three chocolate-chip pancakes.

    At lunch, Phelps gobbles up a pound of enriched pasta and two large ham and cheese sandwiches slathered with mayo on white bread - capping off the meal by chugging about 1,000 calories worth of energy drinks.

    For dinner, Phelps really loads up on the carbs - what he needs to give him plenty of energy for his five-hours-a-day, six-days-a-week regimen - with a pound of pasta and an entire pizza. "

    And it states there that he works out "five-hours-a-day, six-days-a-week," so you are correct.

  4. I actually though of something interesting of Michael Phelps. His mother has repeatedly said that he has ADHD. I have a friend who also has ADHD and he is an amazing lacrosse player. He says that with his condition he can keep going for hours with so much energy and he never feels exhaustion, he says once he broke 3 ribs but he barely felt any pain and he says he eats very little and only sleeps a couple hours a day. Do you think that is what Michael Phelps feels like, and what makes him a great athlete?

    And to answer your question, I've read that he burns 12,000 calories a day so I assume he can eat whatever he wants.

  5. and he STILL kicks a**!!!!

  6. His recipe for success involves eating a staggering 12,000 calories a day.

    By comparison, the average man of the same age needs to ingest about 2,000 calories a day.

    His diet - which involves ingesting 4,000 calories every time he sits down for a meal - resembles that of a reckless overeater rather than an Olympian.

    He lends a new spin to the phrase 'Breakfast of Champions' by starting off his day by eating three fried-egg sandwiches loaded with cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, fried onions and mayonnaise.

    He follows that up with two cups of coffee, a five-egg omelette, a bowl of grits (maize-based porridge), three slices of French toast topped with powdered sugar and three chocolate-chip pancakes.

    Now on to lunch.

    He gobbles up about half-a-kg enriched pasta and two large ham and cheese sandwiches slathered with mayo on white bread - capping off the meal by chugging about 1,000 calories worth of energy drinks.

    Dinner is all about carbs - something which gives him loads of energy for his five-hours-a-day, six-days-a-week regimen - with another half-kg of pasta and an entire pizza.

    He washes all that down with another 1,000 calories worth of energy drinks.

  7. he does spend five hours in the pool but no hambugers

  8. He does not eat 18 hamburgers a day.

    Yes, he practices five hours each day.

    Yes, he eats A LOT of calories a day.

    No, he doesn't eat that many hamburgers. That's verging on unhealthy. Probably around the EQUIVELENT of around 15 hamburgers, substituted with other foods. I've heard about 10,000 calories a day. NBC.

  9. Correct  on the 5 hours in the pool. Not true on the breakfast..  The Michael Phelps Breakfast'

        * 3 Fried-Egg Sandwiches

        * 5 Egg Omelet

        * Bowl Of Grits

        * 3 Slices Of French Toast

        * 3 Chocolate Chip Pancakes

        * 2 Cups Of Coffee

    Total: 3,060 Calories

    He eats about 12,000 calories a day.  He burns off so  many calories from swimming and working out that he needs to consume this much to maintain weight and muscle.  it is heavily skewed towards carbohydrates and fats, which most diets avoid. The combination of quick energy carbs and slow-burning fats keeps him fueled up for hours, and the huge amounts of protein help his body quickly repair muscle damage

    You can find complete menus of what he eats here. http://www.slashfood.com/2008/08/14/mich...

  10. youre right. he eats like 10000 calories a day. isnt that crazy??? his body is amazing though....

  11. hahaha yeah i heard about that! Check this out

    " Michael Phelps recommended calorie intake is 8,000 to 10,000 calories.

    Costas read Phelps' typical breakfast order from Pete's Grille in Baltimore, Maryland, as is recounted in Phelps' autobiography Beneath the Surface:

    Start with three sandwiches of fried eggs, cheese, lettuce, tomato, fried onions, and mayonnaise; add one omelet, a bowl of grits, and three slices of French toast with powdered sugar; then wash down with three chocolate chip pancakes."

    OMG! its crazy

  12. 16 hambugers actually.

  13. that is pretty much correct

    he is on a 12,000 calories a day diet

    because that's about how much he burns in the water.

  14. no its not. on the days he swims a lot or competes, he eats junk food after. and he trains more than 5 hours a day. where do you people hear this stuff?

  15. not 18 hamburgers but when in training......he eats 6-8 slices of pizza for dinner plus more!!

  16. I haven't heard anything about 18 hamburgers, but I have heard 5 bacon and egg sandwiches, a whole pizza, two pounds of pasta, and thousands of calories in energy drinks.

    And yeah, 5 hours in the water, six days per week.

    His metabolism is a huge turn-on. Haha.

  17. No he doesn't eat 18 hamburgers a day but he does eat A LOT, 12,00 calories a day. And I think he spends around 5 hours a day in the water.

  18. No burgers and 5 miles a day.

    BEIJING -- U.S. swimming superstar Michael Phelps has five gold medals and five world records so far in Beijing. He has three events left to go. So what does it take to fuel this champion? A lot.

    When he's training, Phelps reportedly eats 4,000 calories per meal totaling 12,000 calories a day.

    That's six times what's recommended for an average man.

    Here's his menu:

    Breakfast:

        * 3 fried egg sandwiches with cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, fried onions, and mayonnaise

        * 2 cups of coffee

        * 1 5 egg omelet

        * 1 bowl of grits

        * 3 slices of French toast with powdered sugar

        * 3 chocolate chip pancakes

    Lunch:

        * 1 pound enriched pasta with tomato sauce

        * 2 large ham and cheese sandwiches on white bread with mayonnaise

        * 1,000 calories of energy drinks

    Dinner:

        * 1 pound of pasta with tomato sauce

        * 6 to 8 slices of pizza

        * 1,000 calories of energy drinks

    According to NBC, on an average day in competition between warm-ups, qualifying and event races, Phelps swims about 5 miles a day.

  19. I know he consumes a lot of calories, so that wouldn't surprise me. And, I've heard he spends a long time in the pool, so I think you are probably right.

  20. sounds like terrible but if you can burn the fats of it, then okkkk hehe
