I live in a hall of residence (like a dorm) and last night someone found a bed bug in her bed. It's spread to a lot of other rooms, but not mine.

How do I stay clean!? I'm so paranoid!

Our manager is trying to contact cleaning people who are hopefully coming to freeze all of our rooms, but that wont be for days. HELP!

  1. I attached some tips below.  Bed bugs are nasty, take forever to get rid of.  A friend bought a house 2 years back and found out the place was bed bug infested when she moved in.

The mattress bags and mineral oil are a good place to start.

    **************************************...

Thoroughly clean the infested rooms as well as others in the residence. Scrub infested surfaces with a stiff brush to dislodge eggs, and use a powerful vacuum to remove bed bugs from cracks and crevices. Dismantling bed frames will expose additional bug hiding sites. Remove drawers from desks and dressers and turn furniture over, if possible, to inspect and clean all hiding spots.

Mattresses and box springs can be permanently encased within special mattress bags. Once they are installed, inspect the bags to ensure they are undamaged; if any holes or tears are found, seal these completely with permanent tape. Any bugs trapped within these sealed bags will eventually die.

To prevent bed bugs from crawling onto a bed, pull the bed frame away from the wall, tuck sheets and blankets so they won’t contact the floor, and place the frame legs into dishes or cups of mineral oil.

  2. I would limit the visitors in your room until this situation is under control.I read that  travellers have carried the bugs in their suitcase and bring them home as an unwelcome souvenir. When the pest control person comes I'd make sure they check your room as well. These pests may relocate in any area or room that has not been sprayed. It may also take several applications of the pesticide to rid your dorm of this problem.Check to see if you will have to relocate somewhere else why the dorm is being sprayed?  Keep on your resident advisor to ensure that the university is taking care of this matter in a timely manner. My skin is crawling right now, so I'm moving on to another question.EWWWW.Good luck.

  3. Ewww that's really gross.

I agree with the other answers...

butt let me add another suggestion, bed bugs like to hide in your bed sheets where its really dirty so make sure you change your bed sheets once every like one week, two weeks....

    thats what  do.
