Most major rail companies allow for online booking.

Like the German Bundesbahn http://www.bahn.de

Just do a search on http://www.yahoo.com  using the exact name of the rail company you need tickets on.

but you should sign in to make reservation.

Slovak Railways offers online booking on their site www.slovakrail.sk. But they havent good payment possibilities. If you want to pay ticket, you need to have account in Slovak bank.

After payment you will receive PDF file with long alfanumeric code. You have to print it and present in the train. The ticket officer will check validity of code. if code is valid ticket officer will print official bill for you.
