  1. Power: pretty obvious. Proper legwork, proper swing, make your body muscles work, and move your arm as a whole, starting from the shoulder. Don't play with your elbow and wrist. Consistency: harder for me to say, I'm very consistent with my backhand and never had to think about it. Proper follow through, probably. Oh, also maybe attacking the ball on the rise, in front of you, not letting it behind you. You have much better control this way.

  2. try changing your grip to add more "pow" to the contact and lots and lots of practice!

  3. it really has little to do with how strong your arms are if proper mechanics are in place.  Using your legs and forward body motion (i.e stepping into the ball) will allow you to generate power.  Do work on your arm strength with simple exercises. And lastly watch the take back and the follow through. Similar to Golf it is all in the swing!

Now consistency is going to come from practice.  I assume you are recreational player.  If this is the case then most people find the ideal place the feel comfortable making contact with the ball. Some a little early other a little late.  Most the time it is the latter.  Find out where you hit it the best and practice that way.  That will help you develop consistency...hit it the same way, in the same place, all the time!

  4. When I want to add more power, I hit the ball flatter... which isn't always that great. Step into your forehand and hit it as deep as possible. Try not to put to much so much spin on it.

  5. pounce at the ball!  Use your body's weight.  when the ball comes, jump at the ball but go forward and then step on your stronger foot and POW, hit it!

  6. switch to two handed

  7. Workout your arm strength. Another solution is to start your backhand earlier so you have more momentum in the strike!
