hi, just wondering, what is the extent & trends of cancer in our population?

This is a question i heard someone else said. So im curious.

  1. It is really a question nowadays if cancer is widespread or not. If you look at today's medical advancement, people seem to have all types of cancer. To what extent is cancer in our population, i would say that everyone who has a familial history of cancer is at a high risk of getting that same sort of cancer themselves. It all depends on your genetics, the environment, your lifestyle, on geographical location (eg, people in japan are more prone to colon cancer, people who are dark skinned are more prone to skin cancer, etc) and other factors. There are alot of factors to consider when speaking about cancer. However, like i mentioned, your risk increases if there is a family member of yours that has cancer.

    Cancer usually affects people of the middle ages to the elderly. Cancer affects children too but it is quite rare compared to adults. Leukaemia is the most common type of cancer found in children but it is still rare.

    I don't know if this is the answer you are looking for or you would prefer more statistical answers but i hope i can contribute somehow.
