Hello

Im thinking of buying a Onkyo TXSR605 receiver and need to know if you can attach speakers that have the spring type wiring to it. The speaker i have is from a PANASONIC

SC-PT850EBK which has a red and black speaker connection which you simply push the spring clip and put the speaker wire in the holes as i really dont want to spend more money buying more speakers as im very happy with the speakers i have and the design are very good.

Hope some one can help as the panasonic dvd player can not process dts HD as im using the dvd as a amp which is connected to a blu ray player via optical cable. Works in 5.1 dolby digital but not Dts HD as many blu ray dvds only support DTS HD.

  1. The Onkyo has five way binding posts.  Your setup will work.  For connecting the speaker cable to the binding posts I recommend using banana plugs.

Secondly, to enjoy the hi-def audio codecs, connect your BD player to the Onkyo via HDMI.  If your BD player can bitsream the audio, let it do so.  That will allow the Onkyo to decode them.

    Hope this helps.

  2. Yeah you should be able to.  Glad to here you're using that receiver.  It's an awesome receiver.  I own one, and I also sell them.

You should be able to just cut off the spring clips and strip back the wire.
