whenever i go to auction arms.com, or impactguns, or gunbroker, or gunsamerica...they all say that when you buy a handgun, it has to be shipped to the buyer's FFL dealer. does this mean you have to be 21 to buy a handgun online?

if you are a gun control supporter do not answer this question.

  1. I think that the only exception to this is if you buy a blackpowder pistol...

  2. You must be 21 to legally purchase a firearm from a retail source.

That said, it is still legal for someone 18 and over to POSSES a handgun.

Since the above named sites are in fact online marketplaces they fall under federal law.

So yes, to be in accordance  with federal law, you must have any handgun purchases shipped to a valid FFL.

*After some review, I notice your Q&As are disabled and you dont accept email, how old are you?

  3. The exceptions to never get a handgun through the mail is a black powder pistol and prior to 1932, The first National Firearms Act in the U.S., neither of which apply in this case.

You must want a handgun so bad you can taste it. Weren't you the one asking about the Straw Purchase? A dealer is not going to transfer the gun to you. The Supreme Court decision does not support handguns in the hand of persons under 21 years of age.

You can not legally have a handgun by transfer. You can through a private sale. There is no paper trail in most states

  4. You have to get permission from a gun store which holds an FFL to have a gun shipped to them if your purchasing online as you still have to get a backround check done. They fax a copy of their FFL liscence to the website so the site can ship the gun to that FFL holder. Usually you also have to pay a transaction fee, $25-$30 usually

  5. You cannot and never could order a gun over the internet and have it shipped to your door.

Online purchases for firearms work kind of like autobytel. You pick the model you want from one dealer and have it sent to another dealer where you then go through a Face to Face transaction and background check just like if you were buying a gun from the store performing the transfer.

All online sales allow you to do is get the make and model of gun sent to a gun store closer to you so you can buy it.

The news Media makes it sound like you can order a weapon online and have it sent to your house. This is absolutely false and has never been the case.

  6. yes, you must be 21 to buy a handgun through a dealer, and as all internet gunsales ultimately must go through a dealer, you are going to have your ID checked to make sure you are of age and buying in your home state, AND an instant background check will run to make sure you are not a criminal or nutcase

  7. Sorry to say but yes.

  8. Yes, you do have to be 21 to get a handgun from a Federal Firearms Licensee, and yes if you buy online it does have to go through a FFL in your home state, so yes you do have to be 21 to buy a gun online.
