My lil brother really badly wants a hamster for his birthday I just need some info please! Thanks all is helpfull!

Are they noisy?

What do they eat?

How often do you feed them?

Are they ok alone?

Apart from a cage what do they need?

1.no they are not noisy.

2.They eat seeds an vegetables. when my family comes over, they sometimes feed my hamster nuts and bread.

3.You can feed them twice a day (morning and night) because they're usually sleeping in the afternoon.

4.Yes they are okay alone. If your going on a vacation you can just fill their bowl and water thing. The longest you can leave them is two days though.

5.They need a bowl for food, a bowl or bottle for water, a small house, nesting material (NOT THE FLUFFY KIND THEY CAN CHOKE) and that's it. But you can buy special brushes, toys, and treats for hamsters.

6.They only bite when they are scared and they are protecting themselves. But soon, when you and the hamster are friends, it won't bite. :)

Okay, you sound very caring!

1) they can be noisy,depends on the hamster,some are more than others,none of mine were that loud.

2) Hamster mix,most /all pet-shops sell this,you buy it bagged up or loose there are many hamster feed brands the pet-shop where you get the hamster from, the staff should recommend a brand.

3)Syrian hamster(the "normal/common" hamster) this breed of hammy CAN'T unless breeding them be keep together as they will fight to the death,even if siblings.The dwarf varieties are best kept in pairs as they LOVE being together! Just ask a member of staff at the pet-shop/rescue center.

4)A hamster water bottle that fixes to the cage(bowls for water can get un-clean bedding in it.) A ceramic food dish(plastic ones they will chew) A selection of toys for hammy's (just look in a pet shop) wooden,ceramic or hard plastic are best. A house to sleep in hamsters like a little bedroom,pet-shops sell these once again a ceramic one lasts longer than a plastic one! A mineral block you can buy it gives that hamster something to chew on.Bedding for the cage,shavings,care-fresh bedding,& many more. Just to say the cage should be about 2ft by 1ft,if its a single level one.

They eat hamster food that you can buy at the store, along with some fruits and vegetables.

You have to feed them everyday.

And if you want a teddy bear hamster, then they have to live alone or they will fight. If you get dwarf hamsters, they can live together, as long as they are siblings.

They need bedding, toys, food, a house to hide in, and lots of love and attention.

You have to get them use to you, and they won't bite you. But I've heard that dwarf hamsters are more likely to bite.

1.  They  are nocturnal (awake at night, sleep during the day) so they can be VERY noisy at night, which I found out the hard way as a child b/c I'm a very light sleeper.

2.  They eat hamster food which you can get at a pet store and nowadays at most grocery/drug stores
