  1. surfing isnt bad in oregon, other than its COLD.  there are no sharks because its cold.  Make sure you have a wet suit.

Some good places on the nothern coast neer seaside are

The Cove ----inlet next to a hotel very rocky ground but 6-10 foot waves on a regular basis.

    Short Sands---state park

    Indian Beach---state park

The Point <altho telling you how to get to the point is difficult, best to try other areas and talk to local surfers about this place>

theres also a local surf shop in downtown Seaside that rents out boards and stuff that would probably be able to give you directions to the above mentioned places, or others.

  2. "White Sharks are known to frequent the Southern Oregon coast."

Surfing in the Pacific Northwest is cold and there can be a lot of debris in the water, but there are plenty of good waves.

  3. You should try otter rock, its by the resort otter crest, it has really good surf and blocks virtually all wind. Its between Lincoln city and Newport. It is sort of hard to find so ask around at the surf shops nearby.

  4. You can find out everything you need to know about Oregon surfing on the forum at oregonsurf.com

Other then don't surf near dark because of the sharks, they have some great whites lurking there, the surf is usually large and demanding.  Only places I've surfed are in northern Oregon, but I've been told there are some great breaks in the south as well.  The places I liked are the point in Seaside, the Cove, and Cannon Beach.

One word of caution, there is some localism so be prepared.

    Lincoln city

  6. their are mud sharks all up and down the oregon coast. But they wont hurt you. Pacific City is a good place. A little crowded though.
