Organic pesticides?

What are some good natural pesticides that can be used on a grape vine that won't damage the fruit?

I need something that will work against bees, wasps, flies, pretty much any small insects and spiders as well as small birds. Any suggestions?

  1. Cut up one unpeeled onion and one unpeeled head of garlic. Add one heaping tablespoon of red pepper and three pints water in a saucepan. Cook about 20 minutes on low heat. Let the spray cool. Pour it in glass jars and cover with a lid. It will keep in the refrigerator over a month. When you are ready to use the herbal spray, use one tablespoon per pint of water.

  2. It's better to net your grapevines against birds.  Unless you are concerned about cross pollination, bees and wasps and butterflies will not harm them.  Spiders eat other small insects and should be encouraged.  Ladybugs are your best defense against aphids.

  3. I tried Neem oil recently on my fruit tress and have since become its fan. It is available under different names in Home Depot, Lowes etc., It is an insecticide as well as a fungicide. It can be used inside the home and outside. It is very safe to use. The labels sometimes say that it is safe against bees, but I personally do not believe it. It may not be effective against birds though. It does breakdown quickly under the sun.
