Out of control sibling!!?

Question

wednesday was my parents anniversary.

tonight, they planned to go out to have a nice dinner at a really nice restaurant, The Spanish Manor. about an hour before they left, my little brother, who is 9 years old, threw a MAJOR tantrum.

he kicked, screamed, and was physically violent towards my parents when they said he couldn't come.

He broke my mom's glasses, he threw her photo frames across the room, dented her bedroom wall, and dumped her perfume ALL over the bed and floor. he flushed her make-up down the toilet,(which clogged it, causing it to overflow), burned some of her books in out fireplace (it was lit because it was cold outside), broke all the k***s off her dresser and television, and tore up some of her favorite shirts!

to finish it up, he wrote all over her walls, with permanent marker!

i cant understand WHY she didnt STOP him!! and why does she put up with this?

what should we do??????

if parents are too lenient, kids think they can do whatever they want.. not used to being told "no"

some parents dont have the energy to try

sounds like mum has never said no to your brother.

Your parents are in denial about your brother's irrational behavior. Things will get worse if they don't seek professional help for him (and your entire family).  This isn't just blame to put on your mom either - your dad has responsibility as well.

The sad thing is that your parents have allowed this to go on.  I'm sure he has done such things many times.  Until your parents decide to stand up and actually be parents then he will continue.  Sounds like no boundaries have been set.  This is not an anger management issue.  This child is just a spoiled brat who will eventually send one or both parents to the ER.
