  1. No babies do not know how to over eat.  They wont eat if they are full.

  2. Breastfeeding is on demand which can mean feeding every 1-2 hrs in the beginning working towards 4 hrs.  Bottle-feeding with formula they can sometimes last longer but at 2 months old the average is still eating every 2-3 hrs.  You can't overfeed with breastfeeding they take what they need.  With bottle-feeding you feed 2 oz then burp then another 2 oz and burp again and if they want more after that then you can give them more but no baby should go more than 4 hrs between feedings unless they are sleeping at night.

  3. If your breast feeding - should be feeding every 2 - 3 hours.  If bottle feeding - should be feeding every 4 - 6 hours.

If you are feeding something in between than you should be fine - the baby can go a longer time between feeds after the bottle feeding as it fills them up for longer, they will feed more often on breast milk because it is thinner and not so filling

  4. no they will only eat until full, you'll notice a spike in eating schedule

during growth spurts. This is around the age that baby will have a spurt

they'll eat more breastmilk because it is less filling and goes through their system faster

  5. A baby with reflux can seem quite hungry, because nursing will soothe them, and that's all they know---they don't realize it will come back up.  So, while they are also replacing what they threw up, they will tend to drink more than they need because it's so soothing.  SOme other babies will comfort nurse, and get a little too much.

But generally speaking, an attentive mother can't overfeed a nursing baby too much.  There are LOTS of 'fat' breastfed babies, but it just means that they are getting lots of good nutrition and antibodies and stuff, instead of the oils and sugars in formula.
