i have an asus 1000h and it only has the option of standby when i close the lid. Since im going from class to class i just close the lid and put it in the case cause i don't want it to get scratched. Can my comp overheat when in the carrying case? Or do i have to shut it down?

  1. yes

  2. I lock my laptop before going to bed, and it never heats up. You see, your laptop acts as if it is sleeping, which, also makes it act as if it is shut down. It is only when you reopen it when it wakes up, and turns back on. Hope that I helped.

  3. try not to obstruct the fan exhaust.

  4. Either hibernate or shut down.

If you put it in standby, your computer is still using the battery and it's partly still on. And if you put it in the case, there is no way for heat to escape, so it will overheat.

  5. is the computer fan still on when u put it on stand by?!?! if so...then when u put it in the bag it will over heat...if not then it should be fine

  6. standby uses minimal energy so it should be ok.
