Ovulation Calendars?

Question

Ok.. So I went without having a period for 2 months straight and then all of a sudden it showed up on July 20th or 21st. So someone told me to go to google and look at an ovulation calendar, but the thing is idk how to read it. I mean it asks how long is my menstrual cycle but idk how many days that is...so i need some help on this.. me and my husband are trying to have a baby but it aint working yet so any does anybody have any answers for me?

IF you are ovulating correctly, which you may not have since it was 2 months, then you ovulate 14 days BEFORE the start of your next period.  so if you started on july 20, if you ovulated then it would have been on july 6th or around that date.

the people that tell you you ovulate 14 days AFTER the start of your period are incorrect.  you can ask any doctor or look it up anywhere online. it is always 14 days before the start of your next period.  you are going to have to start charting your basal body temperature, or buy an ovulation predictor kit to see when you ovulate.  you need to monitor your cycles and find out how long the average of them are.  you can do a search online about ovulation and find loads of good info on how to see signs.

Ovulation calendars are difficult to use because they rely on past data, not on your current cycle - and as we all know, cycles will fluctuate from month to month.

So...the absolute best way to know when to make love is to watch your cervical mucus.  It will tell you when you're in your fertile window so that you can have your "baby making s*x" before you ovulate.

Ovulation calendars work based on the first day of your last period and the length of your cycle.  The length of your cycle is counted from the first day of your period to the first day of your period the next month.  Most women have a cycle that is around 28 days - that is the default in most ovulation calculators.  In your situation, you will probably have to wait until you get your next period to really be able to tell how long your cycle is. Ovulation calendars take your information and predict the time of your ovulation.  This is not an exact way to predict it - but it gives your the general idea of when ovulation should occur.

Another method of tracking ovulation is taking your basal body temperature.  You can find a lot of information about how this works on babyzone.com or babycenter.com or whattoexpect.com. Look in the preconception part of these websites.

Try going to www.fertilityfriend.com. They have a lot of tutorials on how to chart your ovulation, no matter how long or short your cycles may be. They even have a free online ovulation chart that you can register for yourself.

Since it sounds like you have irregular cycles, it may take you a couple cycles for you to figure out what your own particular cycle length is. Keeping track of your signs/symptoms over the course of your cycle will help you recognize how your body responds before and during ovulation so you can better time when to do the "baby dance" with each other.

With regular cycles those ovulation cals. are very inaccurate, so with your irregular cycles you they are pretty much useless.

You need to figure out when and if you are ovulating. Start charting your basal body temps, more info here www.fertilityfriend.com

Also, start looking for secondary fertility signs such as cervical positon and mucus. When your cervix is at SHOW--Soft, High, Open, and Wet you are nearing ovulation.
