Has anyone here ever used oxiclean? I have read online that it can cause some problems with your clothes. Is there any truth to this?

Right now i am having trouble removing a yellow/ perspiration stain from my white dress shirts and my white polo shirt.

  1. when in doubt take to dry cleaner

  2. I've used it for several years and I LOVE it!!!!   I think it's great at taking out stains and keeping whites bright.  I wouldn't hesitate using it.  I often soak my clothes in the washer with detergent and OxyClean if there's a stain that needs to be removed.

  3. If your shirts are cotton, you shouldn't have any problems trying out oxiclean to remove the stain.  However, sweat stains can be pretty tough to get out, especially if they're the grody crusty kind that gets all mixed up with antiperspirant.  If it's crusted on there, it's likely not to come out, except with a lot of bleach, which may ruin your shirt.

It's worth a try, just follow the directions on the package for creating a paste for stain removal.

  4. I have used oxiclean before and it did work on taking paint out of my sons clothes, but it was a long process.  I let it sit overnight in the solution, then I scrubbed on it, then I let it sit overnight again.  I added a little more oxiclean.  After several days, it did work.

Another thing that I have heard of (but have not tried) is meat tenderizer.  Supposely you just sprinkle it on and rub it in and it breaks up the deodorant and sweat.

If it is just a stain, "Windex" does wonders!  I used to use this on my husbands blue jeans when he would get grass or mud stains on them.

    Also "Shout" works great too!

    Good Luck!
