PAinted Turtle!?

Question

OK so (i no u guys r gonna yell so bring ti on!) I got back from vacation yesterday and a caught 3 turtles and brought em home. YES they are eating turtle pellets from the store and stuff.

But we have a little painted turtle he's about as big as a quarter. BUt he has a little ditch in his shell, it looks like he might have gotten bit. But he was like this when i caught him. But will that heal, will he just have a scar there, or will he get sick and die from it??

you need to give it lots of calcium and keep his tank clean so his shell doesn't become infected when it heals it will leave a little scar it still has the potential to die

Mortality rate for baby turtles is high but the bite will probablt not decrease his chance of survival by much.

To get more calcium into the diet, feed earthworms, fishes (not goldfish) and strips of liver dusted in bonemeal. Some folks buy a cuttlebone to put in the tank but a piece of limestone or a chunk of plaster will work just as well.

He should be fine.  Add a little calcium to it's diet.

You need to visit this website- http://www.austinsturtlepage.com for more information. Find the care sheets and go through them and make sure your turtles will have a good home.

And you need to be feeding more than pellets. Veggies, fruits, meats, etc.

If you are goning to bring animals in from the wild you should take care of them correctly.
