PROBLEM with transmission?

hello

i have problem with an automatic transmission for an oldsmobile 1989 cutlass ciera 3.3 V6 engine

i can drive really nice and speed but my problem is when the gear change from 2nd to 3th it"s take long time and the run go high and then chang to 3th for the rest i dont have problem just from 2 to 3

i need your help by the way i changed the ATF and filter stay the same problem what can i do please.

  1. Check your transmission fluid, (make sure engine is running) it may be low.


  2. It could be poor vacume to the modulator valve make sure the vacume line is not damaged, a quick way to tell is remove vacume line from valve (located on side of trans ) and test,  the vacume should increase as engine rpm increases good luck

        

  3. Sounds like your transmission is on it's way out.  To limp it out as long as possible, when it is going to shift let it shift easy don't be on the gas when it shifts.  Don't put a bunch of additives in it, it's probably beyond that point, and the detergents can wear the worn parts at a faster rate.  Also changing trans fluid probably did not help much, believe it or not it could also cause the trans to wear faster now that it's worn out, again the detergents in the fluid are not beneficial when the trans is already shot.
