PS2 Problems

Question

My son has a PS2 that is right at 2 years old. It has worked perfectly and I have never experienced any issues with it until now. In the past two weeks the system has begun to shut itself off when barely touched and when I say barely I mean you can move the controller cord and it will shut it off. Also, it has started not reading the game discs. When I try the games in another PS2 they work fine. Now in your solution keep in mind that I am a MOM not a computer whiz, so taking this thing apart is not out of the question but would defiantly need a walk thru. Please help me! I dont want to through the system away after spending so much money on it!
