What PC Configuration is equivalent to a PS3 and another for XBOX 360?

Something like:

2.66Ghz Core 2 Duo Processor

256MB nVidia 7800GTX

2GB RAM

  1. you really cant compare the cell processor to Core 2 duo's.Totally different architecture. Cell is basically an In-Order processor, and designed that way to use the General Purpose CPU on the Cell to instruct the very fast SPE's to handle one kind of code. Where as C2D is In-Order and Out of Order executable. While there is a way to setup the Cell to handle Out of Order code by building a program within te program to handle this code and used thru the SPE's to handle this code. But they are still very different from each other. OoO code helps with AI and Physics which is one thing it's great for.

      


  2. Well a quad core for a starters to get close to the 360.

    and the not yet existant 8-core Intel Nehalem CPU's(expect about 09) to get close to the PS3.

    both are 3.2ghz per core .

    both have 512mb of shared memery, but neith have the overhead of an OS, so 1gb on XP n 2Gb on Vista, wiht a 512mb gfx card. both are equivalent to 7900 card's, but both have a few tweaks, so try to get an 8 sereis, once agian PC overhead's

    and a Blu-ray drive to get close to PS3.

    however both are specialist to gaming, and a PC is general purpose, so you need to take that into account and give a PC more higher spec'd parts fto get close to the performance of the consoel's.
