Question:

Pain in front of leg?

I have a pain in the front part of my leg. It is in between the bottom part of my knee and my ankle. It feels like the muscle that runs beside my shinbone. I can feel the pain when my foot goes up or down using my ankle as an axis (not like altitude, as in walking).

Does anyone know any stretches or remedys?

  1. Hmm... you might have been using that muscle too much.  For now i would keep my leg up or maybe put some ice ontop for now. And if anything happens i would go to the doc.

  2. It sounds like you have shin splints, which are injuries to the front of the outer leg. While the exact injury is not known, shin splints seem to result from inflammation from injury to the tendon (posterior peroneal tendon) and adjacent tissues in the front of the outer leg.

Shin splints represent one member of a group of injuries called "overuse injuries." Shin splints occur most commonly in runners or aggressive walkers.

Icing reduces the inflammation, and a tight Ace bandage wil also relieve the pain.  Try to rest your leg.  If you must exercise, use a stationary bicycle or pool walking, as these exercises will tax these muscles the least.  Also, take some ibuprofen.
