Question:

Painful joints in feet?

In particular the balls of my feet, but they both feel pretty stiff generally and crack a lot! Basically, when I get up in the morning it takes a while to get over the snapping, cracking and stiffness, and it's extremely painfull to go downstairs (not sure, but I think the tendons at the back are also affected). Once I've been walking for a while things improve, however as soon as I sit down for a few minutes they are stiffening up again. Anyone know what this might be, and if there is anything I can do to make it better? I'm 37, with 3 young children to run around after!

  1. plantar faciitis.

  2. Ok, most joint pains are eased if you keep the affected area warm. You can get special foot straps from chemists that have heat patches built into them, which may help. Tiger balm is also awesome for joint pain.

However, I would steer clear of trying to find out what it is over the internet. You'll either scare yourself unnecessarily or miss something important. Go and see your doctor, let them find out for you.

  3. Yes Tiger Balm is excellent in relieving foot pain as well as any other pain. The only think you need to be aware of is that you apply it and cover it with old socks as it does tend to stain. Even that's worth the pain relief it provides.

And it's not necessarily Plantar as it could be one of many things so you need to seek medical advice.
