Painting help?!?

im painting one of the walls in my bedroom, its a dark burgundy color, and i've painted a previous bedroom the same color in the past - now, this time around the paint is much thicker in some parts and not so much on others, i've only done my first coat, but this doesnt seem familiar to me at all from the last time i did this. i know it'll darken once i add the other coat but will it still be darker in spots and lighter in othrs/ im afraid its going to look sloppy. there's spots where you can tell i used a roller and sports where you can tell i used the brush around the trim. will this go away?!?

Did you use primer? Maybe this wall has some shiny spots so the paint didn't go on so well there. Primer often solves that problem. Try another coat and see what happens. Is your roller in good shape? Sometimes re-using a roller isn't such a good idea. They can get hard spots which don't hold as much paint and give a patchy effect.

You did not say if the wall you are painting was a light color or a dark one before you started painting.   If it was a light color the description you gave is to be expected.  Dark colors like the burgundy you are using do not hide the previous color well.  Most people assume that a dark color will hide another color better than a light one. That is not true. The reason is this. The tints used to color paint are not opaque but are somewhat transparent. To make a dark color the paint has to have room in the can for the large amount of tint required to tint it to dark colors.  To make the room in the can the paint bas has less titanium dioxide in it.  The titanium dioxide is what makes the paint hide other colors well.  So dark colors have less titanium dioxide and more tint.  The larger amount of tint will also effect the drying time. I have seen walls take days or even weeks to fully dry when painted with a dark color.   And don't recoat until the paint is fully dry. If you do it can make the whole job require more coats of paint than if you let each coat fully dry.
