Go to a store that has many models of TVs on display and look at them. See which picture you like better, which has exterior styling you like better, which has the connections and features you want, which remote seems the most intuitive and least confusing, etc. Then pick the one that you like the best for your budget.

I would never buy anything other than a Sony (got a 40-inch LCD Bravia last year). I think they have the best picture and, since I already had a Sony TV, the remote was very intuitive for me. But, I didn't get the XBR model, because I didn't think the additional features were worth the extra several hundred dollars they wanted for it. Some people don't see enough of a difference between the Sonys and other cheaper brands. So, it's not worth it for them to get a Sony just for the brand name.

Which TV is the best among a group of manufacturers is a matter of taste and opinion. And, the only way for you to truly know which one you think is the best is to go out and look at them.
