What does it mean when a parakeet lifts it beak and stretches its neck up? I have only seen my male do this, so it might have something to do with attracting a mate? I would like to know ASAP so I am not constantly worrying about his health.

  1. Actually its a way of yawning.

My parakeets does this sometimes too. Or it may be trying to regrugraite. So don't worry...he's perfectly healthy,

  3. Birds stretch frequently.  It sounds like that is what he was doing.  They will stretch their neck, their wings and they legs.  You will get used to all the little movements they do over time and will start to understand what the different things mean.

Try not to panic.  I suggest you buy a book on budgies so you can read about how to care for them properly.
