Paramedics?

i was at a scene of an accident yesterday in which a little boy fell of the back of a lorry when the paramedics put him in the ambulance on a board they clipped the board with the kid on it onto the side of something inside the ambulance i was curious to why they did that?

To answer your question, the stretcher is secured inside the Ambulance by a spring loaded bar and a hook that locks around the bar on the stretcher carrage.

to  prevent movement, it was probably a spinal board that the child was on, and until they can have him examined its important to keep him as immobile as possible to prevent any more injury on the journey to a@ e
