Paranoia about burglars/murder?

Okay well when I was like 11-14 I watched a lot of csi, law and order svu, cops, cold case files, unsolved mysteries, you know stuff like that. So for the past few months I've had this paranoia about a small white man with a black watch cap on coming into my house and killing my whole family and me. I sleep with 7 or 8 pillows made into a little wall thing, I'm 15 now, I love penguins and I have a few stuffed penguins in my room as well, I have a dog that sleeps like 4 feet away from me, I have a knife on the side of my bed and a paintball gun without safety on, loaded and ******, ready to shoot. Can anyone think of anything that will help me sleep, be more with-one with the dark (I do sleep with the lights off). Or will I just eventually grow out of this, also I'm thinking of illegally purchasing a gun from some guys I know who live in my town. Also I was reading this thing on yahoo news about some guy who stalked a family of 5, then came in murdered a 13 year old boy by repeatedly hitting him with a hammer, then doing the same to his parents, then raping and murdering his 5 year old brother, it's stuff like this that makes me soooo freaked out at night. Any tips?

  1. I know exactly how you feel. When I was in elementary school I watched murder documentaries, etc. for some stupid reason

It took me hours to fall asleep each night. I finally got over it a couple years ago  (I'm 17 now)

  2. DUDE I KNOW HOW YOU FEEL.

I AM LIKE THAT BUT ONLY IN THA MIDDLE OF THA NIGHT CUS I SLEEP WALK.

I CONSTANTLY HAVE WEIRD DREAMS OF LIKE PEOPLE CHASING ME OR WALL OUTLETS TALKIN TO ME.

I WAKE UP IN A COMPLETE DIFFERENT STATE OF MIND ALMOST AS IF IM HILUSINATING.

MY PAENTS KEEP HIGH LOCKS ON THA DOOR CUS THERE WERE TIMES WHERE I WOULD WALK OUTSIDE TO THA FRONT.

I DONT KNOW WUTS WRONG WITH ME.

  3. Who said television doesn't influence young minds?  There is the possibility you will outgrow this fear.  But, for a safety factor & peace of mind, I would seek out psychological help to get to the core of the problem.  Maybe your school system has a psychologist on staff you could talk with (contidentially) & if it's beyond their realm, maybe they could refer you to the proper person.  Good luck.

  4. Hey man its ok. Its perfectly natural to be afraid after watching TV, movies, etc. Im 20 and once in a while i find myself awake at night, thinking about murder and that kind of thing.

    You'll grow out of it.

As far as tips go, I would suggest reading late into the night. You will be knocked out so fast that your mind wont have any time to think of anything but sleeping.

Also, statistically speaking, you are much safer at night then you think! Most break ins occur in the afternoon because people are away at work. Most people would be afraid of trying anything at night. Homeowners have guns, and as you mentioned dogs.

I know its not that much consilation, but it'll pass.

p.s. DONT buy a gun. If you got caught with that thing, you coould get into some real trouble and jail is pretty much your worst nightmare.
