  1. How old are you and is your accomodation already paid for or are you thinking of including it in your 400 euro budget?

I'll get back to you later with suggestions based on your answers. Because a lot of the prices depend on your age.

EDIT: OK, that's great then, museums are free for you, except maybe a few private museums but all the major ones will be free. of course all working churches are free so you can visit Notre Dame Cathedral whenever you want. Only the Sainte-Chapelle has an admission charge, but it's worth it.

Your budget is plenty. You will only need to buy food and transportation and a few visits.

For public transportation, buy a "carnet" of 10 metro tickets for 11 euros (then a second one if needed but Paris is best visited on foot, it is quite compact). Do NOT get a Paris Visite pass (transportation and museum combo), it is expensive and includes admission to places you either wouldn't want to visit or for which you already have free access being under 18.

Food won't cost you much from 6 to 8 € from street vendors, a 2 or 3-course meal at the restaurant costs 10 to 15 euros, 15 to 25 for dinner. Of course you can always spend more if you see a place you like. Prices are always posted outside.

To enjoy the Louvre and the Eiffel tower at quieter times (because waiting lines are the worst part this time of year), go to the Louvre on Friday evening and the Eiffel tower either first thing in the morning (check the opening hours) or dinner time (8 pm) or just before sunset (10 pm).

You'll get all the info you need including links to all attractions' websites on the tourist office website:

I think you will enjoy the vibrant street life of the more central arrondissements : 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th   (Roman and Medieval Paris). I would spend 3 days in those districts, where most of the monuments are. Do not miss the Roman baths next to the Cluny museum (unless you come from a region with a lot of Roman artifacts and architecture since you are European). You won't need to use the metro for those, just walk everywhere. Keep your tickets for the less central arrondissements:

    - 1 1/2 day to visit the more 19th century Paris, with large avenues, west of the city: Opera house, Arc de Triomphe, Champs Elysées, Invalides, Eiffel Tower...

    - Half a day for Montmartre is enough.

    Check this map too:

By the way, Paris is not all about museums and monuments, it's to be enjoyed for its atmosphere, its street life and night life, people watching from the terrace of a café or from the Pont Marie bridge outside the Berthillon shop eating your ice-cream or sorbet (definitely the most expensive in Paris but once it melts in your mouth you'll know why!) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Berthillon

Stroll along the banks of the Seine (lower level), walk into the many little stores selling unique, fun things. Have fun!
