I live in London and seeing as it's only 2hr to Paris with Eurostar do you think its feasible to go for the day?

Is the Eiffel Tower far from the Eurostar stop?

What else could I do?

  1. Couldn't you at least try and do this for a weekend?

Paris is so huge - you just won't see nearly all there is to see in just one day.  (What if I were asking you if I could do London in just one day?)  You could spend almost a week in Paris before seeing everything.

If all you have is a day I'd take a bus tour in the morning and then pick one or two areas that appealed to you after that.  There is no way would possibly see it all but you could get an idea about how it is.  Maybe you could take a few more trips on later dates since you are so close.  If you make a weekend out of it you would get more bang for your buck.

  2. It is feasible, however don't underestimate how far you'd have to walk (unless you're gonna catch the underground or a taxi)

Yes, it is quite a way - on the other side across the river. I would say that it would be better to go for a short break but if you want to go for one day I would say catch a taxi from the station - they come in multitudes except you may have to wait a short while.

For a whistlestop tour, try one of the many many boat tours that take you along a length of the Seine so you can see the main points of the city.

There's also all the museums - Musee D'Orsay is a good one in an amazing building.

There's the main shopping avenue - The 'Champs Elysees' and at the end of that is the Arc de Triomphe.

Oh, for a free view of the city go to the Galleries Lafayettes and go to the rooftop - a bit difficult to find but worth it.

My advice would be to get a map of the city and plot what attractions are easiest to reach in the timescale.

    Have fun!

  3. Nothing - stay in the station - and retry later at least two full days
