Parisian Pedestrianism?

Question

I'm heading to France for the first time next month. My hotel is in Asnieres-sur-Seine and I expect to spend a fair amount of time during the day just wandering around Paris.

Is there a pedestrian bridge between Asnieres and Paris (ie. the pont du Clichy)? How long would it take to walk from rue du Chateau to, say, the VIIIe arrondissement, and what kind of conditions can I expect-- generally pedestrian friendly or will I be doing a lot of car-dodging?

It's easy, you can walk across the Pont d'Asnières bridge, France is very pedestrian-friendly everywhere, not just in Paris, there are sidewalks everywhere, just wait for the light to cross the street in busy areas.

BUT: as said previously it is a LONG walk to Paris. Just take métro line 13 or the SNCF train to Gare St-Lazare, then walk once you are in Paris. I love walking myself but I wouldn't waste time walking in the suburb if I wanted to visit Paris. Besides, Paris is surrounded by a ring road called the Périphérique and only very large, busy boulevards go across it, so it's not the most pleasant walk: noisy, polluted, long traffic lights because of busy intersections... Walking IN Paris on the other hand is wonderful.

Other than the distance you should have few problems walking. Drivers do tend to be a bit agressive though so take care to cross streets only at proper intersections.

Of course, If you want to walk around Paris one wonders why you chose a hotel in the suburbs. The distance from rue Chateau to the Arc de Triomphe, for example, is about 5km.

Pedestrians are usually very nice in France. I didn't have any problems anyways! I'm not sure of the exact distance and how long it'll take for you to get from point A to point B, but everything in France is very accessible! That was one of the things I loved there. Everything is easily reached and designed for the pedestrians.
