Question:

Part of cellar floor is damp

I have a cellar floor (5mm screed on 5cm concrete laid onto clay subsoil))

One corner of the floor and the adjacent walls are damp.

I plan to dig out the corner only and relay it with a damp proof membrane to isolate floor from wall and then coat the wall with a damp resistant coating. Does this sound sensible?

  1. Yes it does . however I would also put in a french drain . This is a coragated plastic flexable pipe buried in about a foot of gravel then covered in dirt to allow ground water to move from  to trouble area most contractors know how to do this .
