My boyfriend found out that he will have to travel to St Thomas for his job. He is leaving around the 10 of September. He asked me if I wanted to go with him last night. I do not have a passport and I really dont want to pay the expedite fee. Has anyone gotten a passport in the past 2 mos or so??? If so, how long did it take for you to get it?? I really need to know, as I will be going to the post office on Monday to apply.

  1. Are you an American Citizen?  If yes, you do not need a passport to fly to St. Thomas.  St. Thomas is part of the U.S. Virgin Islands...which are territories of the U.S.  You can fly there just like flying to Alaska or Hawaii, or any other state.  See site below and read the line with the blue print at the end that clearly states,"This passport requirement does NOT apply to U.S. citizens  travelling to or returning directly from a U.S. territory."

  2. If you go to the state department passport site it says that passports are issued within 4 weeks... when I got mine in May it only took 3 weeks and I was leaving for Jamaica in july... so if you get it on monday you should have PLENTY of time to get your passport by then...

  3. well for my family except my dad it took us 3 weeks to recieve our passports the post office said it could have taken up to three months
