Hello,

I have a green card (US Permanent Resident Card) and want to DRIVE to Tijuana.

I know that you need a US Passport or, in my case (holding a green card), a US Travel Document when you FLY to any city in Mexico. But do I need a passport when I DRIVE to Mexico, or is my Green Card enough?

  1. Bring both just in case.

  2. You DONT need your passport to get INTO Mexico.

Yet, you might need citizenship proof to get back to the states. If you are planning to drive to TJ, i would advise to take your drivers licence and your green card at least.

    cheers.

  3. You should be finde with your US drivers license & your green card.  the passport is only required when flying into the US from a foreign contry.  If you only have your drivers license, you might get a warning to bring your passport next time.  Just remember if your driving to mexico - mexican auto insurance is required
