Hey, how do you figure out how much ur pay check will be?

Obviously you keep up with how many hrs u've worked that'll be on it, but then what? How do u figure out how much is gonna be taken out?

i live in AL if that makes a difference.

and i'm 17, so obviously i don't have a big-time job or anything..

  1. First figure out your gross pay, which will be number of hours x your hourly rate.  So, if you worked 20 hours at $10 per hour, gross = $200.

    Then figure out the deductions.  You will definitely have social security and medicare taken out.  Between the two of them, that will be 10% of the gross (or $20).  If you only make a small amount of money, then you might not need withholding for federal and state taxes.  If you do need withholding, then probably another 15% for federal/state taxes (or $30).  Finally, look at any deductions they might make for union dues, uniforms or other things you authorize.  If none of these apply, then I would estimate your earnings as:

    $200 - $20 ss taxes - $30 federal taxes = $150.
