Question:

Payment from my agent??

I have recently left my agency as a singer and since the 7th of June, they have owed me £112. I have only ever received invoices if I have asked repeatedly for them and the accounts witch is now sending me sh*tty emails.

I have been with them for a year and they have always seen fit to contra money I owe them when they have received a no pick up. Surely the no pick up money should be sent straight to me and then it is my responsibility to pay the agent their commission? Can they contra my money without written permission?

She has told me that they have only just received the money and it will be forwarded to me when they have banked the cheque.

Please help, i'm so angry with the way she has treated me. She is the main reason I have left the agency. Her attitude stinks and she is so far up her own a**e its unreal.

  1. judge judy is shouting you

  2. sounds fairly typical of an agency

most employment agencies invoice the customer (the person you worked for) deduct their cut, and then pass on the remainder to you.. So it doesn't surprise me if they are not paying you until they have received payment from the customer.. they are hardly going to pay you until they have received their money.

you may find an agent which does things in a different manner, but I doubt it.

I can't comment on entertainment agents, but employment agents are normally nothing more than pimps.. they want to place a breathing body into the vacancy.. they rarely care whether its good for the customer or good for the person / employee, all they want is their commission on the sale

  3. Hi

Go to CAB they have a solicitor for free who can write on your behalf. If you have proof of the debt take out a small claims against them the cost will be added to your settlement. Remember to ask for interest.

  4. It very much depends on what your contract say. You may have given them permission when you signed it.

If you have just been told they now have the money and will forward it when banked. Then you should only have another week to wait.

I appreciate it's not ideal when you need the money, however you have waited almost 2 months, so for the sake of another week you are almost there.

Make sure you get your final payment before getting really angry!!

If the worst comes to the worst you can always go to the small claims court.

    Good Luck
