Pc will not see DVD?

Question

I want to back up my computer onto dvd's. i put the dvd into the pc and my computer wont read it.. i have done this before and it worked. and yes i do have a dvd burner, it says so on the slot cd/dvd-rw. when i put the dvd in it make wierd noises and stops and starts. i put a cd in and it find that. any suggestions? also i just bought the dvd and there memorix. i dont know wheather its the brand that might be the problem. thanks

Maybe you bought the wrong kind of blank DVDs. There are various formats and some drives only work with some disks.

DVD-RW

DVD-R

DVD+RW

DVD+R

DVD-RAM

The - and the + make a big difference.
