People on Y/A?

Question

people on Y/A with a positive attitude tend not to thumbs up or thumbs down as much as angry/bitter people with a negative attitude. This can make Y/A seem a very negative place to be with a lot of people supporting things like racism, sexism, homophobia or just being very biased for the sake of it the list goes on...

Does this bother anyone?

I stopped worrying about the thumbs up/ thumbs down when I realized  they can't get you reported or kicked off.

So it doesn't bother me

Not really. I rarely bother to read other peoples responses to questions. On occasion I do read them, and I give a thumbs up/down depending on relevance of the answer to the question. If that is viewed as negative, then I guess its negative then.

The thumbs up and down is to show whether a user is agreeing with the answer or not...Thats a pretty decent way to express our feeling...

thumbs up or down do not worry me - I just give an honest answer to a question and hope I have helped in some small way

thumbs down doesnt go against you really it just makes you realise what kind of people are watching the questions on a particullar subject, Trolls even?

I find that people watching dog threads are so self opinionated that if you dont agree with thier views they will deffinately thumbs down you. I got a huge amount of thumbs down for one answer but still got best answer, work that one out.

sometimes if im in a bad mood its good to come on and rant at people who have really stupid ideas of life but sometimes im nice really

lol i was thinking similar just recently..maybe i should start a webpage (!!!!!!!!!!!) dont mind me, just thinking about stuff: so much uni work to do!!

but i do know what u mean about negative thumbs down/thumbs up stuff...

its like the passion that drives us

although i do think this question calls for more gumption than this, i really applaud your attitude, its good that there are people out there who are standing up for stuff/things they believe in

the other day i saw some pics on facebook of a guy that got bashed (really REALLY badly) and everyone was commenting 'oh, thats so bad' 'those lads that did that need a good talking to' and stuff, and i guess cause i didnt know that guy that got bashed from a bar of soap i couldnt say anything but inside i was incredulous like 'wtf these idiots..how can they be so lame; these ppl that did this dont need to be 'spoken to'..things need to be done about this; big things!!!' like words cant do s**t in this kind of situation, its action baby

im in academia and i get u know 'pen mightier than the sword' but

wtf??? some idiots who think they are smart enough need some serious lessons...sometimes its hard to know what to do...

but to be honest i could go on about this for a while so i will stop now!!

Think lots of people are just WUMs and do it for a reaction. Don't let them bother you, they're obviously just idiots. For the most part I've found the people on here helpful and supportive.

this is a very interesting perception that you have observed. perhaps those who do pro actively answer in the positive are happy to just answer. the mere act of answering with a view that is considered positive is sometimes all that is needed. sometimes i rate and not necessary in the positive. i always look at the given answer. i try to understand its origin and meaning and i respect the writers freedom to express openly. notwithstanding, i will report what i consider to be blatant and irresponsible answers which promote violence.

ratings either positive/negative are but an expressed opinion based on many factors.
