Question:

Pepper in plants?

Plants are very vital in our home, since 6 people live in our home, and they provide fresh oxygen, of course. But our d**n cat keeps pooping and peeing in there like it's a secondary litter box. So my mom just basically suffocated all of the plants with pepper, so that they will stay away from them. This works, but we are just worried that it is not good for the plant. Because when I water them, I watch the water soak in, and the first thing it has to go through is the pepper.\

Maybe a professional out there, what do YOU think?

Thanks,

Sam

  1. I use a solution of cyanne pepper and water on my plants outdoors to keep the bugs off and the dogs from peeing on them. I spray it on the veggie garden and it has never hurt any of my plants. It washes off the veggies when i bring them in and does not impart a flavor to them. I've never used it on houseplants but I know others who do and they have not had a problem with this. To keep the cats out I would consider setting little "trinkets" around the plants like little ceramic ornaments to make it so the cats don't have a place to get comfortable.
