Newly-appointed Espanyol sporting director, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Oscar-c28720 Perarnau, has declared that he will restructure and remodel the entire system of the club.
Perarnau is a man who rose through the ranks of the club. He has been with them for 16 years and worked in different positions.
After his appointment, the 38-year-old revealed that he will restructure the club at all levels. He said that he will try to change how things have been happening and he will totally transform everything.
Basically, he wants to change the whole philosophy of the club in terms of how they train their players and which style they employ.
“We want to restructure things. Our game play, habits, knowledge and style will all be remodeled.”
The new director remarked on the youth system academy. He stated that from now on, there will be more emphases on the development of the academy and home-grown players.
He was shocked to find out that his side was very unstable while other clubs in Europe were doing relatively better than Espanyol.
“We want to improve the performances of our home-grown players and return to the excellence we had in that department.”
Oscar Perarnau admitted that Espanyol did not have any stability. Now that he is here, the new director feels tranquillity is slowly returning to the club.
“We lacked stability, but not anymore. It makes me so sad when I go to other clubs in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Spain-c3011 and Europe and I see how far our levels have dropped.”
Meanwhile, Perarnau also commented on his meetings with manager, Javier Aguirre. He stated that they are both doing full analyses on the team and its requirements. He added that the meetings with Aguirre were quick and smooth.
“We are doing a thorough analysis together soon,” he said. “Meeting with him are fluid and fast.”
Finally, the new director has revealed the Catalans are planning to strengthen some positions in the squad when the transfer window opens.
“We have two positions that we will strengthen in January, but that will remain confidential.”
The Catalan-based club will clash with the reigning La Liga champions, Real Madrid, on Sunday at the Santiago Bernabeu.
