Petit Theft help???

Question

6 days ago I stole something from my local grocery store...it was under $3...but I know it was still wrong...I live in a small town in Michigan and we don't have security officers just camera's...well my question is how likely am I to get caught and if I do what will happen. I'm 20 and it would be my first offense EVER. I've been in the store since then and if I was gonna get caught wouldn't I have already been. I'm really scared...I haven't been able to stop thinking about it and I can't sleep or eat...am I over reacting....I know i'll NEVER do it again. If you would like to know it was food and it was because I didn't have enough money to pay for that one thing but I payed for everything else. Help plz.

You didn't get caught by the store but it sounds like your conscience has caught you.  Just mail the amount you owe for the item to the store anonymously and never do it again!!!

You're fine from a legal standpoint. If they haven't caught you yet than they won't catch you at all. I went through the same thing you did. Small theft, no legal implications, only moral. I prayed that I would be forgiven and apologized to the store manager. Everything was fine. It's amazing how forgiving people are to those who step up and admit their crimes.

yeah I agree actually my friend did the same thing...she stole from the store...she didnt' get caught but she felt really bad...I would send them the money or take the management aside and tell them what you did and give them the money if you have it...but really if you haven't been caught by now you probably won't be.
