Phillies??

Do you think the Phillies will have a shot at the world series?

I'd love to see it but championships are built with outstanding pitching and the Phillies don't have what it takes in a series of "Short Series", which is the playoffs.  I did pick them to win the pennant before the season started and I'm sticking with my picks, however if they run up against the Cubs, it would be lights out again, just like last season.

They still have time to pick up a starter.  They can hit, there is no doubt about that but can they hit consistently?  That is the question.

If they make the playoffs, they will have a chance. The way their pitching is, they will have to make some kind of trade for a pitcher at the deadline to get better. They have to prove that they can beat the best teams in the NL east ( Marlins and Mets) to have a shot at winning the East. Sure they have a shot at the world series, but a small chance.

I am  a Phils fan and I would like to say World Series but I don't think we can stand up to a AL team like the Angels or Sox. If we win the East there is a high chance that we might make it....but i don't think we can win it all.

yes, they just need to be more consistant with their offense and their pitchers need to pitch well enough to keep the game close and let the offense do the work.  They have all the pieces, its just that all those pieces have to work well.

As a die hard Phillies fan, I regretfully say that their chances are small. First they have to prove themselves in the NL East, because at this rate the Central is getting wild card. While I think the Phillies can win the East, I really don't think getting to the WS is an option at this point.

Their pitching is not solid. Myers threw a 7IP 0ER game, but it was the nationals. Hold the press and write an article that he has changed when he does it Sunday at St. Louis. Until then, I'm not convinced. Also, The hitting is way to sporadic. how do you get 22 runs in 2 games agains the Braves and then score 2 in Washington? Inconsistency kills them. The highest batting average by a regular starter is Utley at a .289 average. No one is even at .300

I want to say the Phillies have a shot. They do if their offense clicks. They have the best offense and argueably one of the best bullpens in the league. Starting and inconsistency kills them though and is the reason why I say no WS for the Fightin' Phillies. Luckily there are still 2 months to prove me wrong.

They have a chance to make the Playoffs but they really have not built this team to succeed in the Playoffs, I am a huge Phillies fan but the Management has not been able to truly bolster the starters, they have decent staters but none that cna really carry you through the playoffs.  They are trying to rely on out scoring other teams in 10-9 games in the playoffs and that just does not happen.
