Okay, I was wondering if this was a real college or it was fake.

Also, if this is a real place the how easy was it for anyone to actually accomplish anything.

One, more thing to I wanted to know if your degree is excepted or if employers except it.

  1. Phoenix is a truly fully accredited university. Their courses are transferrable to any other academic institution. I'm a little surprised at the guy who said he throws resumés from Phoenix grads in the trash. First of all, I doubt that he has seen that many Phoenix grads, so we're really just looking at ignorance about the distance education field.

The only true difference between Phoenix and any other university that has online courses is that Phoenix is privately owned, so they are really in the business of making a profit. That would explain their tuition prices. If you actually calculated the prices of the various semesters and what you would have to pay to complete your degree, it's easy to understand why Phoenix grads are so rarely found in resumés.

  2. Depending on what you want to major in you should be able to find plenty of online degrees offered by traditional colleges and universities.  Most community colleges offer alot of online options.  I am currently completing a degree online.  You are going to have to reseach alot of different programs to choose what is the right fit for you. A couple of my sticking points when I was looking was the ability to live on campus if I was able to and if the school had sports teams.  If the school does not have either of these I would probably stay away.  If you cant physically attend its a waste of time. You also want to make sure the school is regionally accredited.

  3. U of Phoenix is a genuine university, and appropriately accredited. That means that if you decided to take classes there and transfer them to another university, they should transfer.

However U of P is known as a not all that great university, and a lot of employers dislike it enough that they refuse to hire its graduates. So although it's genuine, a lot of employers dislike it, so much so that I feel I must warn you.

Sure, many employers won't care, but those that do care care A LOT. U of P is one of those few universities/colleges that get such a response. Devry is another. ITT Tech, Strayer, Walden, AIU, Kaplan - but U of P most of all, because they are so famous. I'm not necessarily saying that U of P deserves this much venom; just that it gets it.

You should be able to do a degree at your local community college or state university for far cheaper, and have it be acceptable to a lot more employers.

  4. If I come across a resume with a degree from this "school" I toss it straight in the trash, no hesitation.

  5. I took a class online from there and it transfered to a major public Ohio college that I was attending. I could only transfer a total of 6 hrs. from another college into my program. It is real, with real work.
