how come on tv when a shirt or item has a brand name on it they blur it out so it's unreadable. yet i find amateur and pro photographers show brand names/labels without the blur. so as an amateur photographer how can i go about takes brand names with a model without the risk of getting lawsuit for showing a label? i know for a fact most of these people don't call up and ask to use a company logo or name in a photo for their website.

  1. http://www.photosecrets.com/links.law.ht...  That is a link to other links about photography laws.  It makes some interesting reading and it never hurts to be well informed.

  2. a picture taken in public domain. i.e the street, isnt subject to the same laws as a video production produced in a private studio. There are no laws regarding what a private individual may shoot if he/she is in public. There are tons of laws regarding what a tv/movie production may DISPLAY, not what they can shoot. Major corporations would be overwhelmed with legal fees if they tried to "sue" individuals who took and displayed a shot of their copyrighted materials. Besides it wouldnt pay off. Individuals dont have money to justify a law suit. Production companies do though.

  3. There is no problem with logos or trade names in your photo, as long as you are not selling them, or in some cases entering them for competition.
