  1. Go To CTRL-ALT-DEL Check If The Memory Is Low Or The Processor Is Going Mad!

You Might Need A Better PC/Laptop Or Just An Upgrade.

If You Use Vista You Should Have At Least 2GB Ram.

    Also Try Updating Your System.

Or Has This Just Started Happening?

If So You Might Have Been Infected!

  2. Either your RAM is too small or you have too many programs running that you may or may not know about.

Try pressing "CTRL, ALT, DELETE" on your computer, which will either automatically open "task manager" or will bring up a menu which will give you the option to start task manager. once task manager is open, look at the tabs at the top, and click processes.

Try ending unessecary processes, and that should speed it up a bit.

If it's not any of that, your computer has a virus and you should scan it & delete the virus.

  3. have your scratch disks filled up? change your scratch disk to another one. It may not be photoshop but the OS which is killing it. Try system restore to when it worked better (you would lose any recent installs though).

  4. try to check on your computer capability..

and try end the annoying program while you running photoshop..

    ..

  5. All You have to do is go into File > preferences and increase the scratch disk size and if you press alt + ctr l+ del and go into processes and find photoshop then right click and set priority to either high or real time

If you have any further questions email me and i will d my best to help you

  6. You could also try clearing your history while running Photoshop as it takes up some memory to record/remember all of your actions.  Also, do a search for Photoshop temp files (especially if you are running an older version). I once found that these were being stored on my hard drive instead of being automatically deleted when I closed the app, and they take up loads of space.

If you have an external hard drive, try using that as the primary scratch disk.
