Physcology vs. sociology?

Whats the difference and what could you do with it if you were to major in it?

Sociology is the study in how people react to the world or how well they "do" in the social world. Like how well they can communicate with eachother. Look at some questions on Physcology in yahoo answers and then look at some sociology questions and you'll see that the physcology questions are more personal and more towards a single person where as sociology questions are more towards a group of people.

I had asked this question too when I was in high school, but now after i took those two classes in college I finally know what's the difference between them. Sociology is study about the society such as culture, group of people and other things. Everything is about the society. If major in sociology you can work as a professor or social worker. Psychology is about human's thought. You can be a psychologist if you are major in this.

"Psychology examines more of the workings of the human mind, why persons think and behave as they do. Sociology tends to examine groups of persons (societies), communities, and nations. They might examine and discuss such things as folkways, mores, changes in populations, effects of events on entire communities, etc... So one way to look at it is that psychology is more about the individual or small group, and sociology is more about communities and larger groups of persons."

With sociology, you can do just about anything. Its one of the recommended undergrad degrees for law school. You can do business/marketing (its all about figuring out what groups want/making them believe they need something), teaching, work in the government (for the same reason as business-finding out peoples wants/needs)

Psychology, i have no idea what you can do with it. lol

Psychology = study of why one person is the way he/she is.  You can be a shrink and tell people that their parents screwed them up for $150/hour.

Sociology = the study of why groups of people behave a certain way.  You can work for the government and discover that fear and ignorance are the easiest way to control mass population (aka "terrorist threats" and American Idol).
