two identical springs each extended by 2cm when a mass was added to them separately.

a)they were both connected in series (i.e. end to end) and the same mass was hung on the end of the combination. what was the total extension of the combination?

b)they were then connected in parallel (i.e. side by side) and the same mass was hung on the end of the combination. what was the total extension of the combination.

c)the mass was removed and another identical spring was then hung from the bottom of the parallel combination. when the same mass was hung from the end of the combination of three springs, what was the total extension?
